Adventure that
fits your family.
Pack 223 welcomes boys and girls in kindergarten through 5th grade. We provide ready-made opportunities for your family to do fun things together — because together, we can all grow into our very best future selves.
Coming up on our calendar
New families are welcome at almost anything on this list — you do not have to be registered to come see what we're about. Full program year 2026–2027.
A year of things worth showing up for
One pack meeting a month, a den meeting with your Scout's own grade, and roughly one outing a month. Come to what works for your family.
Camping & hiking
Two family campouts a year where you drive right to the site, plus hikes at Mt. Diablo, Briones and the Lafayette Reservoir.
Bikes & boats
Three pack bike rides — including the loop around Angel Island — and a fishing trip at San Pablo Dam Reservoir.
The Pinewood Derby
Cut a block of pine into a race car, weigh in, and race it down the track. The most anticipated day of the year, with an open division for the family.
Service that counts
Scouting for Food fills a truck bed for the local food bank, and every spring we clean up the Happy Valley campus.
Your Scout joins a den with their own grade
Cub Scouts advance one rank per school year. Dens meet on their own, and the whole pack comes together once a month.
Lion
An adult partner comes along to every meeting and outing. Short, playful, and a gentle first taste of Scouting.
Tiger
Still with an adult partner. Tigers start earning adventure loops and get their first taste of the outdoors.
Wolf
Scouts start working more independently within the den while parents stay close by.
Bear
Bigger outdoor skills: knives, fire, tools and cooking, all taught step by step.
Webelos
"We'll Be Loyal Scouts." Scouts take on more of the planning and start visiting Scouts BSA troops.
Arrow of Light
The highest rank in Cub Scouting, and the bridge into Scouts BSA at the Blue & Gold banquet.
You are not behind. Start anywhere.
Families join Pack 223 in August, in February, and every month in between. There is no prior experience needed — not for your Scout, and not for you.
