TeamSnap
Where RSVPs live. Every outing that needs a headcount — campouts, the Pinewood Derby, ticketed Scout Nights — is RSVP'd in TeamSnap, and last-minute changes are posted there first.
Registered families get an invitation. Missing it? Email the pack.

Monthly-ish notes from the committee about what's coming up, plus reminders before the big events.

Den meetings, at-home requirements and rank progress come straight from your den leader. They are the fastest answer to almost any question.

Two-deep leadership, always
At least two registered adult leaders are present at every Scouting activity, and no adult is ever one-on-one with a Scout who isn't their own child. Every registered adult completes Youth Protection Training and, in California, a Live Scan background check. If you ever see something that doesn't sit right, say so to any leader or to the committee chair.

Ask before you buy
Kids outgrow uniforms in a year. Pack families cycle through shirts and neckerchiefs constantly — ask scouts@bsapack223.org first and we'll usually find you one for free.
Our council and district
Pack 223 belongs to the Briones District of the Golden Gate Area Council. The district covers Lafayette, Martinez, Moraga, Orinda, Pleasant Hill and Walnut Creek, and runs events well beyond what a single pack could put on.

The pack is run entirely by parents. If you're stepping into a registered position, this is the path — and the committee will walk you through all of it.

Youth Protection Training →
Required for every registered adult before you can serve, and renewed every two years. Takes about 90 minutes online.

California Live Scan (AB 506)
California law requires fingerprinting and a background check for adults working with youth, on top of Scouting America's own screening. The council coordinates this — ask the committee chair for the current process.
You don't have to register to help
Most of what keeps the pack running is unregistered parents doing small things: bringing snacks to a pack meeting, driving to a trailhead, running one station at a meeting, spending an afternoon cutting derby cars. Tell any leader, or email scouts@bsapack223.org, and we will find you something.
Scouts BSA — after 5th grade
Arrow of Light Scouts cross over into a Scouts BSA troop at our Blue & Gold banquet. Troops are youth-led, camp far more, and lead to the Eagle Scout rank. Several local troops already send den chiefs to help run our den meetings.

Not sure which one?
Webelos and Arrow of Light dens visit troops during the year specifically so Scouts can pick for themselves. Your den leader will set those visits up.
